Most people view taboo words as dangerous and socially threatening words or phrases.
But then...as we ponder upon this, do taboo words only carry this kind of message? There might be hidden meanings behind them as well, such as how certain society can be seen through their language use. In our understanding, taboo exist because of the perceptions of a society or communities on how they view things which is right or wrong. Sometimes, what we view as right may be wrong to other people base on backgrounds. So we decided to do a project on taboo and euphemism based on Malay language and culture. In this blog we hope that you will understand how strong and important is the role of language in our everyday lives. Taboo can be used for good cause and bad. We have the freedom to choose our doings, so choose carefully.
